Providing a ‘starter kit’ for any survivor who wants to make our dolls
Freedom Dolls Initiative (FDi) helps victims of human trafficking and sexual abuse.
One of our rehabilitation programs which the survivors undertake is the making of dolls.
The Sewing Box Project will help us to provide a ‘starter kit’ for any survivor who wants to make our dolls, the kit includes a Sewing Machine, stuffing, material and Wool.
Once a victim is ready we teach them to make a variety of dolls including pirates, brides, soldiers, cultural dolls, fairies, sports dolls, animal dolls, Christmas dolls, career dolls, and character dolls.
People can also sponsor a doll which is then given to a child at hospital or in a hospice.
Once these dolls are sold the money is then given to the victims to help with their everyday lives. This helps the victims in several ways:
- Firstly they regain the self-worth that had been taken away.
- Secondly they are able to put back into society by paying their own way and not relying on government handouts. After all they came to Cyprus to find work.
FDi sells the dolls worldwide via the web www.freedom-dolls.com and at various talks/events which we attend throughout the year.
