The Global Education Unit promotes and supports active global citizenship through local, European and global initiatives. Our work focuses on equipping youth and educators with knowledge, skills and tools to increase awareness about global issues and to encourage action for a more just and sustainable world; engaging citizens of all ages in intercultural dialogue; supporting peace-building initiatives among young people; and stimulate action towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. The GEU is very well networked across Europe in the field of Global Education, and has longstanding collaborations with the relevant national, regional and international stakeholders.
Current projects include; Map Your Meal, Supply Chainge, Make Fruit Fair!, Reinventing Democracy, GlobaLab, and Different Cultures - Common Values.
Past projects include; Accessing Development Education, TeachMDGs, Civil Society Acts Beyond Borders, The World from Our Doorstep and Youth of the World.
The Global Education Unit is part Future Worlds Center. Future Worlds Center is an independent, non‐profit, non‐governmental organization, legally registered in 1991 (as Cyprus Neuroscience and Technology Institute), aiming to bring about positive social change in the Cypriot Society, and is at the moment one of the biggest NGO’s in Cyprus. FWC's activities are implemented under the management of 4 thematic Units; the Global Education Unit, the Humanitarian Affairs Unit, the New Media Lab, and the Future Designs Unit.
